The Deadseat

A Survival Guide Through Parallel Nightmares

Unraveling the Game: A Journey Between Fear and Family

The Deadseat is a psychological horror game that immerses you in a terrifying alternate reality. A malicious force begins to infiltrate the real world while you, as a child, are confined in the backseat of a family car and utilize a handheld console to escape into a virtual one. It becomes a battle for survival in both worlds as you attempt to strike a balance between the in-game adventure and the unsettling things going on around you.

Inspired by video games like Inside, Oxenfree, and Five Nights at Freddy's, this horror tale combines poignant storytelling with realistic survival elements.

How to Play the Deadseat: One Battle for Survival, Two Realities

Players must switch between two interactive realities in this game's novel two-layer gameplay system:

Game Kid: The Virtual Environment

  • Discover Carister Valley, a pixelated world filled with odd objects like soda cans, roast turkeys, cameras, and barricades.
  • Avoid dangers, collect fuel, and drive through nightmarish roads.
  • Use a camera flash to fight off invisible enemies in-game.

The Real World – Family Car

  • React to noises, shadows, and movement around the car.
  • Use your camera to scare away creatures climbing on the roof.
  • Listen carefully to determine which side the threat is coming from (left, right, or trunk).
  • Use barricades to patch broken windows.
  • Press W to move to the front seat when your parents disappear.
  • Quick thinking is crucial, as threats can appear in either world at any moment. You must stay alert and switch between screens at the right time.

  • Z / Space – Action/Confirm
  • X – Back/Menu
  • W – Move to front seat (real world)
