What Is Walkable Cities?

Walkable Cities is a quirky top-down puzzle game that turns ordinary walking into a surprisingly tricky challenge. You control a character with a unique one-button movement system, navigating awkward city spaces, avoiding obstacles, chasing birds, and even playing soccer with dogs. The goal is simple: finish each challenge while using as few steps as possible.

How to Play

Quick start:

Objective: Reach the required destination or complete the level-specific task with minimal steps.
Movement: Press Space to take a step. Your character rotates around one foot, creating an unusual movement pattern that you must learn to control.
Restart: Press R whenever a movement goes wrong and try the route again.

Unlike a conventional walking simulator, Walkable Cities makes positioning and timing the real puzzle. Later challenges can involve grass, birds, footballs, dogs, and enemies rather than simply reaching an exit.

Tips & Strategy

Plan each step – The one-button movement can easily send you into walls, so check your position before pressing Space.
Use the dog – In some stages, the dog can help move the football or clear birds, saving you several steps.
Predict the football – Don't chase the ball with repeated inputs. Position yourself and let its movement work in your favor.
Restart bad runs – If you've already wasted several steps, press R and try again instead of forcing a poor route.
Aim for fewer steps – Finishing a level is only half the challenge. Experiment with different routes to improve your step count.

Experience & Review

Walkable Cities is easy to understand but surprisingly tricky to control. The unusual movement creates plenty of funny mistakes, especially around walls, dogs, and footballs. Its biggest weakness is that the experience feels short, but the step-count system gives you a reason to replay levels and find better routes.
