A Strange Japanese Horror Adventure

Onigashima is a kind of interactive horror visual novel developed by Akua Kourin and the Sweets & Sins Creations team. The setting is an old Japanese village, where you portray an Oni monster hunter facing psychological challenges and dark mysteries.

Story: Hero or Madman?

In this game, you play as an Oni hunter named Yamakui, who has slain the infamous Yamakui monster, which descends the mountain every night on a red moon to devour villagers. You are hailed a hero in the wake of your victory. However, the vague memories and alterations in your friends' behavior sowed doubt in your mind regarding the legitimacy of that victory. Are you really a hero or simply a pawn of the puppeteer known as destiny?

Gameplay: Interactive Horror Visual Novel

Using the Ren'Py game engine, Onigashima presents an engaging interactive storytelling experience. Players can enter a character name and play through the story with multiple choices affecting the progression and final climax of the game. With 9 different results and 1 true result, players will be encouraged to re-examine the game to uncover all of its secrets.

Onigashima is an interactive visual novel game, wherein you read the story, decide, and witness the results spawn in the progression and ending.

  • Getting Started: Enter a character name to add a personal touch.
  • Read & Observe: Pay close attention to even minor changes in expressions or actions, or the slight hint dropped in dialogue.
  • Make Decisions: Everything you choose steers the dynamics of relationships, resulting in different endings.
  • Multiple Endings: Nine endings and one true ending await you, so it almost forces you to replay.
  • Enjoy the Horrors: You will be greeted by violence, blood, and supernatural elements.

Tip: Jot down important clues, and observe characters for some of the special endings.

Character: Companion or Enemy?

  • Shiori: She is a cheerful and bubbly priestess who is always by your side.
  • Yamato: A hot-tempered samurai who often called you a liar.
  • Hikaru: The masked guardian who always seemed to know where you were and, sometimes, what you liked.

Each has an important role to play in unfolding the dark secrets of the village and of yourself.
