In HIKEBACK, you assume the role of a driver navigating a desolate mountain road late at night. Your journey takes an unexpected turn when you encounter a hitchhiker desperately flagging you down. The choices you make from this point forward will determine not only your fate but also that of the hitchhiker and potentially multiple planes of existence. Trapped in an infinite cycle, you must confront the question: how long will it take you to reach the elusive THRESHOLD? Will you discover the better ending you seek, or will you fall victim to the fates that await?

The game’s narrative is inspired by campfire ghost stories, found footage horror films, and modern-day fables. It features a branching story with 18 different endings, plus variations, and is enhanced by a hauntingly original soundtrack composed by Sam Tudor, reminiscent of the atmospheric music in games like Silent Hill and Oxenfree.
